Overview of LINKETT Traffic Services

LINKETT traffic analytics help us understand how large groups of people behave. This service collects and aggregates information that is broadcast by Wi-Fi enabled devices. We use this data to create reports for our partners to help them improve their content performance. It allows entities such as DOOH Networks to engage directly with their visitors through Wi-Fi and digital signage applications. This service helps us and our partners provide you with customized content experiences. Throughout this Privacy Policy, we describe the types of information that are associated with these services.

Information practices specific to our services is described in more detail below, followed by generally applicable information about data practices that apply.

Information Collection

When you walk near or enter one of our partners’ locations with a Wi-Fi-enabled device, our Wi-Fi sensors will detect the presence of that device and its Media Access Control Address (“MAC Address”). We do not store the MAC address or any mobile identifier on our servers in any GDPR enforced territories. The collected information is aggregated into anonymous data to calculate traffic metrics including total visits, average dwell time, and average visit frequency. 

Information Use

Visit Information is used to provide aggregated reports for our partners and for research to improve our products and develop new services. Our partners use the reports for a variety of purposes, such as to:

  • Generate targeted digital signage content
  • Measure the effects of advertising

Collected Information is used by or shared with our partners as described above, so that we and/or they can provide you a better experience.  Visit Information is also used as described above by us and/or our partners, to provide you with a better experience.

Data Ownership

In the event that LINKETT is acquired by or merged with a third-party entity or is potentially going to be acquired by or merged with a third party entity, if its substantial assets are acquired by a third party, in any partial or total sale of assets including in the event of bankruptcy, or in any other corporate change, LINKETT may transfer or assign the information as part of that actual or potential merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control. The promises in this Privacy Policy will apply to your data as transferred to the new entity.

We may share information in response to a request for information if we believe disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request. We require a warrant or court order before disclosing any of the limited amount of device location data that we possess.

Your Choices & Opting Out

LINKETT complies with the Mobile Location Analytics Code of Conduct. As provided for in the code, you may elect to opt out of associating a device with a MAC address by emailing info@linkett.com and we will remove any existing MAC address data in the future.

If you are a California resident, California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits you to opt out of LINKETT sharing personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes by making an email request to info@linkett.com.

Data Retention

Visit Information is retained for 24 months, unless it is necessary to keep the information for legal purposes. After 24 months, data is retained in summarized format.

Overview of LINKETT Demographic Services

LINKETT technology collects information about the location of mobile devices over time, and processes it to determine geographic-location segments that will be used to help make the digital advertisements that consumers see more relevant.

How do we collect information via our technology?

We do not collect information directly from individuals. We collect information from our partners, which include mobile advertising networks, mobile websites, supply side platforms and mobile apps. These partners deliver advertising to your mobile device(s). In addition, we may collect some information directly from our advertisers or from third parties if required and provided by our advertisers

what types of information do we collect via our technology

Through our partners we may collect various types of information. For example, from the ad requests your device makes, we may obtain the latitude and longitude (i.e., lat/long) coordinates from one of our mobile app partners

what is precise location data ("PLD")?

Our partners collect information to target and display advertisements that may be of interest to you. We may provide the collected information to our third party partners and agents to improve targeting, make and create offers, provide reporting to advertisers and clients, and to improve our systems and products.

why do we use this information?

Our partners and LINKETT use information to develop geographic-location segments to help make the digital ads more relevant, and for ad delivery, analytics, and reporting purposes. We may also use the information to enhance our advertising and analytics capabilities, and to offer analytics and data enhancement services to our customers for their marketing and advertising purposes.

how do we safeguard your privacy?

LINKETT and our partners do not collect any PII via our technology that allows us to identify an individual directly such as email address or telephone number. In addition, our partners use de-identification techniques such as pseudonymous identifiers associated with your mobile device to help safeguard your privacy. If our partners combine information collected via their technology with information they receive from third parties, they do not use any PII, such as address or last name, directly for ad delivery and targeting purposes

controlling the use of your information

If you wish to not have your location information collected, you can turn off this capability in the settings of your mobile device. If you wish not to receive tailored advertising based on our services, you can opt-out by adjusting your advertising ID settings on your mobile device. We encourage you to read the help section of your mobile operating system to learn how to turn off the collection of location information or to opt-out from tailored advertising. You can also opt-out of our tailored advertising services by clicking the AdChoices icon in or next to the ads in which it appears or using your mobile device to go to our AdChoices mobile opt-out page. Please note that this does not opt you out of being served all advertising. You can also turn off location settings on your device at any time to disable our collection and use of the location data obtained from your device. You will continue to receive generic ads and may receive tailored ads from other companies.

LINKETT and our partners adhere to the Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioural Advertising and the Application of Self-Regulatory Principles to the Mobile Environment published by the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA). LINKETT and our partners honour the DAA's opt out mechanism for data collection and use in connection with mobile applications. We may license information collected from our technology or derived therefrom, including geographic-segment information and information about the types of locations consumers visit over time, in order to provide our services. When providing our services to our customers, we do not provide any PII or precise Geo-location data to them.

We may disclose information about you to third parties when obligated to do so by law and in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected, or actual prohibited activities, including fraud and situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person.

Finally, we may transfer information,to a potential or actual successor entity in connection with a corporate merger, consolidation, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or other corporate change.

The security of your information is important to us. We have implemented security measures to help protect the information in our care, both during transmission and once it is received. No method of transmission over the Internet or method of storage is 100% secure; therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, it does not guarantee absolute security.

information relating to children

Our partners’ products/services are designed for those 18 years of age and older. Our partners do not knowingly collect PII from anyone under the age of 13. If we are made aware that we have received PII from someone under 13, we will use reasonable efforts to promptly remove that information from our records.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post these changes in this policy, and suggest that you revisit this policy periodically to stay informed of any updates.
